JOB DESCRIPTION
As our new Technical Artist (f/m/d) at Ubisoft Düsseldorf, you will play a key role in developing a future-proof pipeline - Ensuring the seamless integration of art assets into the game engine, connecting the visual component to feature functionality and maintaining optimal performance and visual fidelity. You will work closely with both the art and programming teams to address technical challenges, optimize workflows, and contribute to the creation of high-quality game content. Your responsibilities will also include improving pipeline processes, and providing technical solutions to maintain art quality throughout development.
What you will do:
- Provide daily support to the Art and Tech teams.
- Integrate and optimize art assets into the game engine while ensuring quality, performance standards, and budget constraints.
- Improve and streamline art production workflows and asset pipelines.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for complex art issues.
- Enable team members to complete tasks efficiently and consistently.
- Develop tools and scripts for Maya, MotionBuilder, 3ds Max, Photoshop, Substance Designer, and other 3D/2D software, as well as in-house tools.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for technical art features and tools to support team-wide understanding and usage.
Qualifications
What you bring:
- 2-5 years of experience in a technical art role, with a proven track record in game development or related industries.
- Proficiency with 3D art tools such as 3ds Max or Maya.
- Experience with game engines like Unreal Engine
- Familiarity with parametric creation and maintenance of node-based graphs.
- Strong understanding of performance optimization techniques, asset management, and debugging in the context of art production and budget restrictions.
- Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to resolve complex technical challenges efficiently and effectively.
- Fluency in English, both written and verbal.

Lead Development Tester [Unannounced Project] (f/m/d)

JOB DESCRIPTION
As Lead Development Tester (f/m/d), your primary objective is to lead a team of embedded Dev Testers and work with producers, developers, artists, and designers to ensure the quality and stability of new online features and game content across multiple platforms (PC, PS5, Xbox Series X) while coordinating with various co-dev partners around the world.
What you will do:
- Recruit, manage, and develop a high-performing team, focusing on leadership growth for succession planning
- Connect and partner up with teams across Ubisoft to drive quality initiatives
- Lead test development, estimation, planning, execution, and reporting, while promoting best practices
- Ensure creation, validation and regular maintenance of test plans and tests cases and implement process improvements
- Manage testing schedules and coordinate activities with external and internal functional teams.
- Assign tasks, track progress, and ensure timely deliverables
- Prepare regular reports and dashboards to monitor and control KPIs and recommend corrective actions as needed
- Oversee defect management and keep testing processes up to date
- Conduct performance assessments and guide team development
- Analyse game quality, usability, and risks, providing insights and recommendations
- Monitor and control quality metrics for game content and team performance
Qualifications
What you bring:
- Experience leading test teams: 3+ years
- Experience in game/software testing: 5+ years
- Experience with testing in Engine (e.g. Unity, Unreal Engines)
- Knowledge of gaming platforms (Xbox Series X, PS5, PC, etc) and first parties’ development
- Proficiency in issue tracking tools (e.g. JIRA, Trello, Bugzilla)
- Experience with test management tools (e.g. TestRail, Xray)
- Demonstrated experience in test planning for complex features/systems
- Proficiency to work in spoken and written English
- Worked on at least one title as testing lead from production to release, preferably multiplayer online
- Passion for video games and software quality
- Any coding knowledge: XML/HTML, JavaScript, Python, Java, C/C++/C#, SQL is a plus
- Certification in any of the following: PMP, Scrum Master, ISTQB-ATM is a plus
- Experience with automation test tools and methods is a plus
- Familiarity with Ubisoft's line of products and services is a plus
- Experience working in global teams is a plus

As an Engine Programmer on BGE2 you will share responsibility for developing and maintaining low-level systems and overall architecture. Currently, this role has a strong focus on the topic of physics but it can branch out in other areas of engine programming too.
What you will do:
- Work on multiple platforms and in areas such as memory management, loading, streaming, physics and platform specific systems
- Work as part of our feature teams, including but not limited to technical health and quality of life improvements
- Experience in the design and implementation of various game systems
- Work closely with other Programmers to help them achieve their Goals
- Work with precision and care on our systems and frameworks
- Provide the technical foundation for features
- Maintain and extend the existing engine and frameworks, safeguarding and improving stability
- Work on identifying and improving existing systems and identify new opportunities
- Analyse, support and improve the performance of our features
- Work on the architecture of our features, keeping long-term maintainability and scalability in mind
- Work with the lead team on improving game stability and performance
Qualifications
What you bring:
- Strong skills in C++
- Good understanding of multithreaded code
- Expertise in performance optimization techniques
- 3+ years of professional experience (at least one released title)
- Strong ability for analysing and extending existing code
- Good English and communication skills
- Self-direction and motivation
- Ability and desire to work as a team player
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, physics, mathematics or equivalent experience is a plus
- Practical Experience with Physics Engines is a plus
- Practical Experience with Havok is a plus
